Praxis is a charity for migrants and refugees. Our direct services support people in London, and our training and campaign work has national and international impact. Our core purpose is to help migrants in crisis or at risk, ensuring they can live in safety, overcome the barriers they face, and take control of their own destinies. From our east London base, we strive for a world where people are not defined by their immigration status, and everyone is treated with dignity and respect.

Solidarity, inclusiveness, respect, and a hunger for justice are key values of our work. We treasure the shared humanity between those needing and offering support. Our services don’t just support our users; they empower them.

Work supported by Act for Change Fund

Praxis Community Projects is an East London charity working with people who have migrated and are negatively affected by UK immigration policy. This grant will fund the employment of a Youth Organiser who will facilitate young people impacted by immigration policy to change the negative perception of young people who migrate to the UK.

In November 2020, the inspiring members of our youth group Brighter Futures hosted ‘Challenging the Narrative’, an amazing event where they used poetry, art installations and panel discussions to challenge the narrow rhetoric on young migrants.

In their own words, they hosted the event “to make sure that as many people as possible could understand our situation, and hear from our own voices that we are phenomenal.”
